MIDDLETOWN NORTH GIRLS SOCCER CONTINUES ITS MAGICAL RIDE WITH A SECTIONAL TITLE

MIDDLETOWN, N.J. - You can use many words to describe this fall for the Middletown High School North girls soccer team. Magical, unbelievable, amazing, historical, the list goes on. On Friday afternoon in front of their hometown faithful, the No. 1 seeded Lions accomplished what only one other team in program history has done in winning a sectional championship, beating No. 2 Cranford 3-1 for the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 title. “It was so great to win a sectional championship on our home turf in front. Our fans were amazing,” said Middletown North girls soccer coach Patricia Misciagna. “ We knew this was going to be a tough game. Cranford gave us a great game. Our great start to the game gave us a lot of confidence and helped us a lot to get the win.” It was a great start to the contest to say the least for Middletown North. Just 34 seconds into the contest, Lindsay O’Keefe shot a great pass over to Ashley Dietrich, who banged in the game’s first goal to put Middletown North up 1-0 right off the bat. “Our team talked before the game about how important it was for us to get on the board first,” Dietrich said. “Lindsay gave me a perfect pass to get the goal. It really boosted our confidence and got us going.”
